Business model: production and processing combined
ONganic has set up an outgrower system with over a 1000 farmer families in West Bengal -and the number is increasing. Each of these farms is certified organic and maintains a close relationships with the company. ONganic advises them on growing practices and the choice of crops. The company then markets all of their farmers’ crops, from season to season.
ONganic also operates its own rice factory. They can thus offer full traceability of their products.

Aromatic Brown Gobindobhog (or Baby Basmati)
A heritage variety, Aromatic Brown Gobindobhog rice used to be a premium product for the forgone generations. It is generally used as an offering to Lord Krishna, hence the name. It is grown by the small farmers of West Bengal and is one of the most nutritious rice, extremely high in antioxidants. This indigenous variety of Govindobhog Brown rice is naturally grown by giving emphasis on preserving the biodiversity and rich heritage of Bengal.

Flattened rice
Flakes produced from the de husked rice that is parboiled, rolled, flattened and later dried. Depending on the method of cooking, they can be both crunchy and soft. It is good to cook Poha or other light delicious snacks.
